Everything’s coming up roses and daffodils…

Just over 2 weeks left until opening day! We’ve been working hard to get our products ready for the market, old and new alike! The recipes are being tested, the labels are being formatted, and the fun is just beginning! Our Instagram followers have been voting on our baked goods menu. If you haven’t had a chance to check that out yet, I highly suggest you go take a peek! We’ll still have all of our granolas, baking mixes, and spice mixes as well for an awesome spread at the market.

Please consider stopping by to visit us and the other amazing local vendors at the market!

Let’s Party!

In just about a week, our friends at Life is Succulent are celebrating 5 years of being open, a tough feat in our current small business market. They work hard to support other small businesses and shop local, and you should too! I’ll be bringing the stand and we’ll have all of our usual fare, as well as some sweet vegan treats to celebrate with a fun market on Saturday, 4/20! Come visit us from 11AM-4PM for the party.

Special Orders

I LOVE making custom menus for events or orders. Playing with the recipes to bring you a product that is both whimsical and tasty is one of my favorite things to do with food. This week I had 2 events with their own special menus. The first, a booze-free cocktail themed cookies menu (shoot me an e-mail if you want to be added to the list when I do the pop-up, you won’t want to miss it!). Then this past weekend, a spring event at one of our local plant shops had a fun seasonal vegan menu with Blueberry or Carrot Cake Loaf, and White Chocolate Lemon or Mud Cookies!

I’m so lucky to share lots of treats with my community, and I can hardly see where this takes us this year.

If you’ve gotten to enjoy our goodies, please feel free to reach out by e-mail for a custom order anytime! I’ll work with you to get you a product that is both tasty and creative, or a sweet classic.

Remember to be good to yourself,

Mack

The Crowd is Growing!

Hey all! Since I’ve got some new people joining my page and some events coming up this week, I thought I’d do a little introduction to Mack’s! I love playing with recipes to make them in various styles like gluten free, vegan, allergen free, so on and so forth. In short, something for everyone!

Mack’s has a current focus on limited ingredient convenience items, things like baking and spice mixes, and even granolas! These items are typically easier to buy at the store rather than make ourselves because we only have so much time in the day. Unfortunately, they often come with extra sugar, extra sodium, unnecessary allergens, additives, etc. If those work for you, I absolutely encourage you to use them! If they don’t, we offer a variety of granolas, spice mixes, soup bases, and baking mixes, all with no extra fillers. This year I also hope to step into bringing baked goods to the market, both vegan and traditional.

I’m glad you’re here joining me, I hope I’m able to help you feed you and yours!

Gnome Sized Home Bakery

Hi again! I’ve been working behind the scenes to bring some homemade baked goods to my community, but I have such a hard time narrowing down menus. I hope to launch my gnome sized home bakery soon on a weekly or bi-weekly pre-order basis, offering both a base menu and specialty menus.

The tricky part is I have a mishmash of experience and skill that I’ve built in wildly different kitchen environments, from interning with a Michelin chef, to family owned restaurants that are passing the legacy of grandma’s cooking on. It’s a good thing because my cooking and baking profiles are expansive, but it makes it hard to choose what to focus on! I’ve been reaching out on my social media, but I thought I’d open the questions to you as well.

What sort of baked goods would you like to see from me? So far we’ve had mention of cookies, danish, muffins, loaves, and miscellaneous items like pudding cups and pizza dough. What say you?

Crunch Time!

The few months before market season are always surprisingly busy. You’ve got to figure out which products to keep, which to give the boot, update your pricing to reflect ingredient costs (ouch), update your website, figure out stand design, sign up for events, so on and so forth. And if you’ve got new ideas- hoo boy. You have to measure, weigh, price, test, test with a friend, package, and test again before it’s able to go to market! I’ve been dedicating extra time this year to these processes on top of wanting to offer a wider selection of goodies (hopefully to include some homemade baked goods) so I have been a busy, busy bee.

Luckily, I’ve finally nailed down some new mixes that I want to offer at the market, and my new granola flavors are out of their testing phase. I just have to finish up putting some new spice mixes through the ringer and then I’ll be ready for market! I also have some special events coming up to introduce my newer “phase” of Mack’s. That’s exciting- but also nerve wracking. Here’s to forward progress, even if it’s scary.

As always, thank you for staying tuned and following along my crazy cooking and baking adventures.

Slowly Coming Back…

Hello all!

I’ve been away from this site for quite some time in order to try some new site options, but this one is the best so I’m happy to be coming back. Unfortunately I will be shutting down the online store, but I will still be taking direct orders on social media or e-mail (mackthegoblin@gmail.com). In the time I’ve been away I had another season at the market, only attending every other week. I’m not sure that worked out for me personally or for the business, so I’m weighing my options about coming back to the market every week for this season, D might help us out for that. The family is well despite a stressful year last year and a stressful beginning to this one.

I’m glad to say that I’ve been working hard to get new products ready for the 2024 market season, which is rapidly approaching! In this new season I also wanted to update how I generally communicate with my customer base. I’m hoping to do a bi-weekly post or newsletter keeping you up to date on fun products, more recipes, and things I’m trying either at home or to bring to the market. So far I’ve been leaning into homemade baking mixes, cutting out all the filler and preservatives that you get in mixes from the store to provide you with a more authentic “from scratch” taste while maintaining convenience. I hope to also finish rounding out some homemade soup starter mixes, but am having trouble pinning these down because I want to offer a convenient product that you don’t have to add much of anything to, but it seems to be falling short. Try, try again! The granola lineup this year is looking awesome as well, we’re keeping a few flavors, and bringing some new ones to market like Nutter Butter, Birdseed, and Latte Crunch.

I’m also working on a super secret project with some close friends that I hope to be able to announce soon, so keep checking back in to hear about that.

I hope everyone has been keeping safe, warm, happy, and healthy in the time that I’ve been away. Hope to see you at the market soon!

Be good to yourself,

Mack

Market 2022

Howdy folks! I know it’s been quite a while since I’ve posted, we had a family emergency right around the holidays and life has been crazy since then. Luckily, everyone is okay and we’re back in the swing of things.

I’m very glad to be back and announce that we are at the Williamsville Farmer’s Market for our second year, as well as participating in this year’s Bassett Park Markets!

Keep an eye out for lots of good stuff this year and updates as we navigate this year’s events and excitement!

As always, cook yourself or a loved one some good stuff, thank you for being here on this little crazy food adventure with me, and be good to yourself.

It’s Our Birthday!

It’s our birthday! It’s hard to believe a year ago I launched my new baby. Since today was a long day at work, we’re celebrating tomorrow night- but I’m sitting and ruminating on my favorite bit of wisdom from The Big Insane Happy. Thank you for all of your support and for being part of my neat life! 💚
